ISDC 2017
International Conference on Soaps, Detergents & Cosmetics (ISDC 2017)
FMCG is the fourth largest sector in Indian economy and HPC is the leading segment accounting for 50% of the overall market. The size of the Indian FMCG industry is estimated at USD 49 billion in 2016 and expected to reach USD 103.7 billion by 2020 at CARG of 20.6%.
The recent reduction of GST to 18% by the government in detergents & home care products indicates support and their positive intent. In the medium term, a GST rate of 12% will drive growth to double digits and increase the revenue collection for the government.
Growing awareness, easier access, digital marketing and e-commerce, growth momentum in rural markets & changing lifestyles have been the key drivers for the sector. The HPC industry however, faces several challenges in the areas of sustainability in production, formulations, safe use of ingredients and at packaging fronts. It is in these challenging times that the 5 th ISDC conference was held at Goa with the Theme: “Transformation – A New Normal.” The three day event took place at Hotel Goa Marriott Resort, Panji, Goa from December 10-12, 2017.
The event was supported by members of International Network of Cleaning Product Association (INCPA), Asia Oceanic Soaps & Detergents Association Committees (AOSDAC) and Soap & Detergents Associations from West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Chattisgarh.
